When Psychotherapy Can Help
My clinical psychology practice supports children, adolescents, and adults experiencing emotional, relational, or psychological difficulties at different stages of life.
Psychotherapy can be helpful when someone is experiencing anxiety, panic attacks, persistent sadness, depression, traumatic experiences, grief, or difficulty managing intense emotions. It may also be beneficial when dealing with low self-esteem, shame or intense self-criticism, difficulties with identity, impulsivity, feelings of emptiness, fear of abandonment or rejection, difficulty trusting others, family conflict, or relational patterns that seem to repeat themselves despite efforts to change them.
A diagnosis is not always necessary to seek psychological support. Many people begin therapy because they feel lost, overwhelmed, emotionally stuck, or because they are going through a separation, a loss, changes in their family or professional life, parenting difficulties, or simply because they feel that something in the way they are living or relating to others is causing them distress.
I aim to provide a safe, confidential, and welcoming space where it is possible to better understand what is happening, explore the origins and meaning of current difficulties, and develop more adaptive ways of relating to oneself, to others, and to life's challenges.
Therapy is tailored to each person's age, personal history, needs, and life circumstances, while respecting their individual pace and the goals we define together.
Individual Psychological Consultation and Psychotherapy
Individual psychological support and psychotherapy for adolescents and adults experiencing difficulties such as anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship difficulties, emotional regulation problems, personality-related difficulties, or periods of change and personal development.
The therapeutic process aims not only to reduce current distress, but also to understand the emotional and relational patterns that may be contributing to its persistence.
Child Psychotherapy and Play Therapy
For children, play is one of the main ways of communicating and expressing emotions.
Play therapy uses play as a therapeutic tool, allowing children to express their feelings, process difficult experiences, and develop new ways of coping with the challenges they face.
Therapy is adapted to each child's developmental stage and individual needs.
Adolescent Psychotherapy
Adolescence is a period marked by significant emotional, relational, and identity-related changes.
Psychological support can be helpful when difficulties arise in areas such as anxiety, self-esteem, identity, relationships, family life, school, emotional regulation, or other forms of psychological distress.
Whenever appropriate, the therapeutic process may also include sessions with parents or caregivers.
Parental and Family Support
Support for parents and caregivers who wish to better understand their children's emotional and behavioural needs.
This work can help families reflect on relationship difficulties, parenting challenges, and ways of promoting greater emotional security, communication, and healthy development.
Support During Times of Crisis
Psychological support during periods of heightened emotional distress, particularly in response to difficult life events or moments when a person's usual coping resources no longer seem sufficient.
In situations involving an emergency or immediate risk, appropriate emergency services should be contacted.
Workshops and Training
I also provide workshops and training sessions for professionals, teams, and organisations on topics related to psychology, mental health, relationships, trauma, emotional regulation, and psychotherapeutic intervention.
In-Person and Online Sessions
Sessions are available in person in Lisbon or, when appropriate, online, allowing me to work with people living in other regions or countries.
